I'm a winna!

Okay so, I've been following this blog for a while. Its owner is Angie pants face Durrant Batis and she has to be one of the coolest women I am yet to have the pleasure of meeting. It was a combination of her blog, a desire to pen/type something again and nagging from my best friend that made me start this blog. It is in its humble beginning's at the moment but I am positive that as soon as I a) get the hang of layouts b) find the right focus for the blog c)get a digital camera d)regularly update here with quality posts, that this blog will become like my own baby. But I digress....

I entered a competition on Angie's blog, a competition I really wanted to win, and wham bam thank you ma'am I will soon be the owner of a beautiful ceramic ring and personalised Moleskin sent all the way from a lovely lady who makes lovely things, Adriana

I do hope that one day my blog will provide some interesting, enlightening, unusual, lovely things to discover much like other blogs have done for me :)

PS Credits need to go to Angie for her lovely picture ensemble at the top of this post

I like cross stitch and The Smiths

This line comes from a song by a band called The Smiths. I can't say i'm their biggest fan as I possibly only really know one or two of their songs but this song in particular always strikes a chord in me. I suppose its because most of my musical taste developed from what I would hear streaming from my brother's room when I was growing up and so it conjures up various memories and thoughts that we all sometimes attach to a particular piece of music. I found this picture randomly doing a Google image search for cool cross stitch patterns (which are very rare). Credit goes to Kimberley Scola who seems to be the maker of these pieces and www.ninjavspenguin.com for the pic.

PS Click on the title and it will take you down, take you down to China town! or just to a cool The Smiths link :)

Special K

Since my teen years many a friend and acquaintance may have heard me declare that I ‘bruise like a summer fruit’. Within minutes of being squeezed too hard or pinched by said friends and acquaintances evidence in the form of a blue mark would appear.

I’m a clumsy girl. Now, when I say this I mean less ‘bewildered butter fingers’ and more ‘non-peripheral tunnel vision’. I have too many things going on in my brain to have to concentrate on being totally visually aware of my surroundings. Naturally, the outcome of said too-many-things-in-brain affliction is that I tend to bump myself on nearly anything with an edge, that’s a lot of things.

Not only is the speed at which these bruises come up alarming to me but the fact that they hang around for a while, getting worse before fading into nothingness really makes someone as neurotic as me wonder, ‘Am I dying?’.

No. I might be a hypochondriac in denial but dying, I am not. At this juncture I decided to update my Facebook status in search of an answer to my highly unattractive and thought provoking condition. Thought provoking because when people see multiple bruises they immediately assume the worst, abuse. But I digress…

Turns out, according to one of my status comments from a friend I last saw before my breasts were fully developed, I am lacking Vitamin K, found in leafy green vegetables aka spinach. I need to guzzle it down like Popeye on a regular basis to make sure I don’t look like I’m recouping after some plastic surgery.

Good thing I like spinach.
